The Tuba-Christmas idea started in America, with the first concert taking place in 1974 on the Rockefeller Plaza ice skating rink in New York. Since then, Tuba-Christmas has spread around the world, becoming steadily more popular. Musicians meet up with their tuba family instruments to play Christmas songs together. The deep, rich tones of the brass instruments and the large number of participants create a wonderfully festive atmosphere.

Tuba-Christmas in Zermatt is organised by Ueli Kipfer, an internationally renowned conductor, euphonium soloist, lecturer and brass competition jury member. In case of cold temperatures the second part of the concert will take place in the church St.Mauritius.

Natural products from local farmers available once a month from July. A market of “Lebensraum Zermatt” and of producers from Zermatt and the surrounding area, bringing you fresh fruit, vegetables, cheese and meats. You’ll find it on the new village square next to the tennis courts on Wednesdays from 12:00 - 18:00 hrs. There’ll also be a soup stand.

The Patrouille des Glaciers, the legendary ski mountaineering race organized by the Swiss Army, will take place again in 2022. This cult event in the ski mountaineering calendar takes from Zermatt via Arolla to Verbier.

The start is worth seeing at least once in life. Days before the race, Zermatt teems with competitors training for the event, both women and men. The contest, organised every other year by the Swiss army, is regarded as the toughest of its kind in the world and takes the patrols with each 3 participants over 112 kilometres.
