Description

For 28 years, Ursula Stalder has been working exclusively with objects that she collects from the world's seashores. The “treasures”, sorted according to material, country and theme, are the content of her art constructions, which, as compositions of form and colour, develop into new possible orders and subject areas. Her artistic work is nourished by the familiar practice of collecting and storing. Item after item is carefully lined up, laid down, hung up, included.

Through new compositions and a constant continuation of her search for the essence of things and the examination of time, she creates works that not only convince through their consistent design, but also raise social questions about how we deal with our planet. In her exhibitions at home and abroad, Ursula Stalder enables worthless things to be seen and thus opens up the cycle from the ground back into civilized living spaces.
Since 1994 she has been showing her finds in museums, art halls and galleries both in Switzerland and abroad. She structures her exhibitions in the form of room installations, base presentations and hanging works. In the exhibition “When trash becomes Art” in August 2020 in Zermatt, Ursula Stalder will only show wall compositions that radiate their field of activity in Heinz Julen's gallery.
